Possibly as an Englishman I miss the nuances of the Civil War which tore the country apart because the Confederacy wanted to be seperate from the Union and thereby keep its own legislature and its own white supremacist ruling elite and slavery known together euphemistically as its way of life. That is rape, murder, torture, lynchings of black men women, and children, and a whole range of acts and laws that impressed Hitler.
