Kingdoms Of The Blind
Eyeless in Gaza?
1.
In an ancient land, a story was written of a Chosen people
Who would be free eventually after their captivity
And with freedom hard fought carved out a land but
Empires came and went and suffering became their history
A Diaspora of place and time
Yet never faltering in belief or reasoning the right to be so treated
By men and God
But they returned as prophecised and politicised in tracts made by modern men at the beneficence of another most powerful Empire
Yet the land was not theirs, for others now, had fortified it with the remains of their dead, for centuries
And filled the air with their voices
And birthed generation after generation here
They returned as usurpers not as rightful owners of a land owned by no one except the dead
And given it by an Empire fast-ending its own usurpation of others’ lands
It was not their land to give away
The Chosen knew this and took it after murdering their oppressor and won back their ancient sacred home to settle in the place now changed forever by the passage of millennia.
It was another’s home.
Its name was Palestine.
