I am saying exactly that. Hollywood does glorify war in Europe as a heroic endeavour and is reluctant to grant best film status if it shows the utter futility of war which AQOTWF did. It won Best Picture in 1933 I believe. America was isolationist and did not want to involve itself in another European conflagration. The film/novel encapsulated the prevailing political and cultural zeitgeist in both America and Britain and Europe except of course Germany.
