Very recently I felt something was very wrong with the reception of my writing on Medium. It was last month and it still continues today. A feeling, an instinct. Not something I could definitively declare with complete certainty but discomfort and apprehension that something was wrong. And I suspected it was to do with my increased production of political pieces on Medium.
For most of the last 3 years, I have written many many well-received articles on Culture, with articles on politics being infrequent but when I had written such a political piece there were no prisoners taken by me. It was pretty obvious where I stood.
My most read piece was on Gaza and the suffering and dying people of Palestine. That was about 18 months ago. But partly why I had not written more was because I really hadn't found a place and platform for my political expression. A place that I was comfortable with.
